Museums

The city is home to the Children's Museum, located on Meridian Street, which is the largest of its kind in the world. The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is well respected, containing both historical exhibits, folk art, and fine art.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art is located on 38th Street. The Indiana Railway Museum is located in Noblesville, just north of Indianapolis. The nearby city of Fishers includes Conner Prairie, a museum and settlement that recreates life in the early 1800's.

Theater and Music

The Indianapolis Civic Theatre is the oldest continuously operating theatre in the United States. The nearby city of Broad Ripple is known for its music scene. Local and up-and-coming musicians perform in the city's many bars and theaters. Noblesville is home to the Verizon Wireless Music Center which each summer plays host to national musical acts and events such as the Eagles, Lollapalooza, Ozzfest, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
