Jeff Gilbert

Founder and CEO

Jeff Gilbert, Founder and CEO, has been leading the software product design and development company for more than 30 years.

Jeff co-founded SEP in 1988 with the idea of bringing an engineering approach to software development. SEP is a lean software engineering firm that creates and deploys whole systems within its facilities. The company, one of the largest software development firms in Indianapolis, builds systems and products for several Global/Fortune 1000 clients. SEP was the Indianapolis Star Top Workplace in Indiana in 2009 and has been ranked by the Indiana Chamber as a Best Place to Work since 2010.

In 2010, SEP converted to an ESOP after Gilbert transferred ownership to the employees, ensuring the continued success and growth of the company.

As an entrepreneur who holds high values for himself and his company, Gilbert has considerable experience launching business and technology ventures in the medical and energy markets. He has helped build companies like Vigilance Medical Technologies, Theron, Inc., and EnerGenuity from concept to execution.

Gilbert is a senior member and past local chapter president of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society and a corporate adviser to Rose-Hulman's CS/SE department.

Gilbert graduated from Rose-Hulman in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and again in 2006 with a Master of Science in Engineering Management. He received the Rose-Hulman Career Achievement Award in 2005 and Honor Alumni Award in 2010.
